Zebra Cake

INGREDIENTS:
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
For the chocolate batter
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
- reheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this bowl aside.
- In another bowl, mix the cocoa powder with 1/4 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar to create a chocolate mixture. Ensure it’s well combined and set it aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix the vegetable oil with 1 cup of sugar until the mixture becomes creamy.
- Add the eggs to the creamy mixture and continue mixing until well incorporated. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
- With the mixer on low speed, alternate adding the remaining 1/2 cup of milk and the flour mixture gradually. Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated and the batter is smooth.
- Remove 2 cups of the batter and combine it with the chocolate mixture you prepared earlier.
- Now it’s time to create the zebra effect in your cake. Use a tablespoon for each batter. Starting from the middle of the pan, alternate between spoonfuls of white batter and chocolate batter. Continue this process until you’ve used all the batter.
- Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The baking time may vary depending on your oven. The cake is ready when a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
