You’re ready to create Zebra Cake, a dessert that’s not only visually stunning but also a delightful treat for your taste buds.

Zebra Cake

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the chocolate batter

  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. reheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare an 8-inch round cake pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this bowl aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix the cocoa powder with 1/4 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar to create a chocolate mixture. Ensure it’s well combined and set it aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the vegetable oil with 1 cup of sugar until the mixture becomes creamy.
  5. Add the eggs to the creamy mixture and continue mixing until well incorporated. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. With the mixer on low speed, alternate adding the remaining 1/2 cup of milk and the flour mixture gradually. Mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated and the batter is smooth.
  7. Remove 2 cups of the batter and combine it with the chocolate mixture you prepared earlier.
  8. Now it’s time to create the zebra effect in your cake. Use a tablespoon for each batter. Starting from the middle of the pan, alternate between spoonfuls of white batter and chocolate batter. Continue this process until you’ve used all the batter.
  9. Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The baking time may vary depending on your oven. The cake is ready when a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow your Zebra Cake to cool and then enjoy!
