Polish Sausage, Sauerkraut, and Potatoes

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 (14 ounce) cans sauerkraut, undrained (or 1 (2 pound) bag)
  • 5 or 6 potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pound Polish sausage, cut into chunks (could use smoked sausage)
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place sauerkraut and potatoes in a slow cooker.
  2. Add your choice of spices (e.g., caraway seeds, black pepper) to the slow cooker.
  3. Add some water to the slow cooker.
  4. Place sausages on top of the sauerkraut and potatoes.
  5. Cook on high for approximately 4 hours or on low for about 6 hours, or until the potatoes are tender.
