INGREDIENTS:

  • 8 ounces Ribeye Steak thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt divided
  • 1/4 coarse ground black pepper divided
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 yellow onion sliced
  • 4 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 1 loaf French bread cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces Provolone cheese sliced

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
  2. Begin by seasoning the steak with half of the salt and pepper, and then coat it with the canola oil.
  3. Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steak to the skillet and cook for 2 minutes without stirring or flipping. Afterward, pour in the Worcestershire sauce and give it a good stir.
  4. Remove the cooked steak from the skillet and set it aside. In the same skillet, add the butter, green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and the remaining salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the vegetables are slightly browned.
  5. Take both halves of the bread and spread mayonnaise over them.
  6. Layer half of the provolone cheese on one half of the bread. Then, add the cooked steak and sautéed vegetables on top, followed by the remaining provolone cheese.
  7. Place the sandwich in the preheated oven on the middle rack and bake for 15 minutes, or until it becomes nicely browned.
