“Fudge is our favorite sweet treat at home, and the kids absolutely love it. I try a new fudge recipe almost every month, and if it’s a hit, I add it to my collection of dessert recipes.”
INGREDIENTS:
-
1 2/3 cups white sugar
-
2/3 cup evaporated milk
-
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
-
1/2 teaspoon salt
-
1 (6 ounce) packages milk chocolate chips
-
16 large marshmallows
-
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
-
1 cup chopped nuts
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, evaporated milk, unsalted butter, and salt.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. It’s important to keep stirring to prevent the mixture from scorching.
- Once the mixture reaches a rolling boil, cook it for about 5 minutes, continuing to stir constantly. This cooking time helps to ensure that your fudge sets properly.
- After 5 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until they are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Next, add the miniature marshmallows, vanilla extract, and chopped nuts (if you’re using them). Stir well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Quickly transfer the fudge mixture into a greased 9×9-inch (or similar-sized) baking dish or pan. You can use parchment paper to line the pan for easier removal later.
- Smooth the top of the fudge with a spatula or the back of a spoon to make it even.
- Allow the fudge to cool and set at room temperature for several hours or until it’s completely firm. This usually takes a few hours, but it’s best to leave it overnight.
- Once the fudge is set, you can cut it into squares or your desired shapes.
- Store your homemade fudge in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It can last for up to a couple of weeks, but it’s so delicious that it might not last that long!
