Oreo Truffles
“These bite-sized treats are a perfect blend of Oreo cookies and cream cheese, coated in luscious chocolate.”
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 package Oreos (14.3 oz or 45 cookies)
- 1 cup (8 oz or 226 g) cream cheese,, room temperature
- 2 ½ cups (437 g) semisweet chocolate (or white chocolate)
- Sprinkles for decorating, optional
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until you have fine crumbs. Add the cream cheese and pulse until the mixture is smooth. Transfer this mixture to a bowl, cover it, and let it chill in the fridge for about 45 minutes.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or wax paper). Take the truffle mixture out of the fridge. Use a 1-inch cookie scoop to scoop the mixture and then roll it into 1-inch balls. Place these balls on the prepared baking sheet and transfer them to the freezer for an hour.
- Melt the chocolate chips using a makeshift double boiler (see notes for microwave instructions). To use a double boiler, place the chocolate chips in a heat-safe glass bowl over a pot of simmering water. Gently stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Remove the truffles from the freezer. Using dipping tools or two forks, dip each truffle in the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coating. Gently tap off any excess chocolate on the side of the bowl and return the coated truffle to the tray. If you desire, add sprinkles immediately, as the chocolate will harden quickly. Repeat this process with the remaining truffles.
- Store the truffles in an airtight container in the fridge, and they should stay fresh for up to three weeks.
