Normally, when you first open a bottle of olive oil, there is an extra piece of plastic that you have to remove. Most people just rip it off and immediately throw it in the trash, but you shouldn’t! That extra piece of plastic is the key to smarter cooking.
If you put that plastic cap back upside down (don’t push too hard, otherwise it will end up inside of the bottle!), it ensures that the olive oil comes out of the bottle much more gently. This way you can add the oil to your dish with much more ease, without having to worry that a big splash will suddenly end up in your pan.
