BREAD IN A BAG

“Bread in a Bag is incredibly easy; there’s minimal kneading, no punching down or intricate shaping, and very little waiting. “

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 gallon-sized plastic bag
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Grease a loaf pan and preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 cup of flour with the sugar and yeast. Transfer this mixture into a resealable gallon-sized plastic bag. Add the warm water to the bag. Seal the bag, pressing out any air, and then use your hands to gently shake and mash the bag until everything is well combined.
  3. Place the bag on the counter and let it rest for 10 minutes. You’ll notice that the mixture becomes bubbly during this time.
  4. In the same bowl you used before, combine 1 cup of flour with the salt. Pour this mixture into the bag along with the melted butter. Again, seal the bag, pressing out the air, and shake and mix the contents thoroughly.
  5. Open the bag and add the remaining flour. Seal the bag, then mix until the dough is well combined.
  6. Remove the dough from the bag and place it on a floured surface. Knead the dough with floured hands for 5-10 minutes.
  7. Put the kneaded dough in the prepared loaf pan and cover it with a towel. Find a warm spot in your home, and let the dough rise for 30-45 minutes.
  8. Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  9. Slice, serve, and savor the freshly baked bread. Enjoy!
