Ingredients

For the Lemon Pie Filling Layer:

  • 1 16 oz. can lemon pie filling

For the Cake Layer:

  • 1 15 oz. package yellow cake mix

For the Topping:

  • 4 oz. cream cheese cubed
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, thinly sliced

Instructions

Preheating and Preparing Baking Dish:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a square baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

Layering Ingredients:

  • Pour lemon pie filling into the bottom of the greased baking dish, ensuring it spreads into the corners.
  • Top with half of the cake mix, evenly distributing it. Place cubed cream cheese evenly on top of the cake mix, then sprinkle the remaining cake mix over the cream cheese.
  • Take thinly sliced butter pats and place them in a single layer on top of the cake mix, covering as much of the surface of the cake as possible.

Baking:

  • Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Serving:

  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
